Official website launch

I’ve actually had this page for years with scraps of various blog posts archived. However, I’m now at the point where I have a book that is almost done, and it seems wise to start to get the site going in earnest.

What is the book about? It’s called Eleven. Simply put it’s a memoir focusing on the last eleven years of my life. The number has always been my favorite.

My lofty goals:

  • articulate to strangers the complexity of my life

  • let everyone I love know that in the written form

  • be an advocate in changing the unhealthy system of medical education

  • promote increased tolerance of those of other backgrounds

  • reduce stigma against open discussion of mental health and substance abuse

  • save the lives of doctors, physician’s assistants, nurses, LGBT youth

  • celebrate the healing power of art and my love of music, pop culture, books, movies, dance, theater, art

  • find a sense of peace in knowing that apparently one can be a writer, singer, actor, dancer, athlete, and doctor

  • tell people about how I found my voice, both literally and figuratively.

If this sounds like something that interests you, I’d encourage you to subscribe to my blog and check out things I post on here. I’ve had a lot of semi-complete posts unrelated to the books. I plan to trickle these out as I gradually finish them. I’m finally at a point professionally at which I can begin to speak much more transparently to everyone in my life, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!
